This month's Rock Star of the month is Mollie Kate Story!
Mollie Kate has been apart of the Rock Star family for many years! Being a Rock Star is something that is very special to her and her love for the team grows each year. "Being a Rock Star, I am very proud of. I'm proud of my team, proud of my coaches, and proud of the progress we have made as a gym throughout the years. Everyone here at Rock Starz has made extreme progress and I am so proud of that. I am very proud to be a Rock Star."
One of Mollie Kate's favorite things about being a Rock Star is getting to cheer and practice with her friends. "When I walk into the gym all of my friends greet me with big hellos and hugs. We are very close, just as our cheer music says- it's a sisterhood. We go to parties together. We travel to the competitions together and we love to hang out together." Mollie Kate also loves stunting, because each stunt is different there is not one part that is the same!
Over the years, Mollie Kate has learned a lot about being a competitive cheerleader for Rock Starz. From lessons and from all of her coaches, she learned that you always have to try your best. She also learned that tumbling at a high level adds points to her team's performance, so it's important that she always learns new tumbling passes each year. "I always have and always will try my best in tumbling, stunting, and dancing for my team." Most important, Mollie Kate learned that she can do anything she sets her mind to, it just takes time and practice, lots of practice.
In order to succeed on the floor and in competitions, Mollie Kate knows that her coaches are always there to support her and push her to try harder. "My coaches are always the ones to motivate me. They say, "you can do this" and "I believe in you." When I am tumbling, every coach in the gym always says something to motivate me or make me feel more confident. Especially, Coach Scott, he encourages me, believes in me, and teaches me tips to perfect my tumbling and stunting."
This year, Mollie Kate is most excited about competition season. She loves the chaos and back to back competition weekends. Comps are her favorite, because her and her team finally get to show everyone what they can do and how talented they are. "The whole team gathers in a circle and we do special handshakes to provide motivation before we step out together on to the mat. Then, we take our first step on the stage where all of our hard work and practice pays off! That is my favorite part, that first step on to the stage knowing that we are ready to show the judges our best performance. I can see my coaches and family and other Rock Star cheerleaders there ready to see us perform our very best. And that's a moment that I love!"
What's Mollie Kate's favorite memories as a Rock Star?
"I have a few favorite cheer memories as a Rock Star. First, when I was on Emeralds for my third year, at the Cheer Limited competition, we were the first Rock Starz team to ever win a summit bid. The pride and joy we felt as a team was amazing! Another favorite memory, I have was when my SR3 Sapphires team won FIRST place and progressed directly to the Summit finals at ESPN center in Disney World. This was a huge accomplishment for the whole team making it to the summit finals! I know Coach Chris was so proud of us for that accomplishment!"
"One of my oldest cheer memories was from 5 years ago. It was my first practice being a Rock Star member on Rubies, I was new to Rock Starz, little and shy, and surrounded by older girls. And these 3 girls just walked up to me and started talking to me, Kaitlyn, Emma and Abbey. They were my first Rock Star cheer friends and they are still my cheer friends today. Over the years, we have made many new cheer friends together and made many cheer memories together. And we've all advanced our skills a lot too."
Way to go, Mollie Kate! Keep up the hard work!
