BOUNCE YOUR WAY BACK TO HEALTH: 6 BENEFITS OF TRAMPOLINE EXERCISE

Out of all the different aerobic exercises, jumping on a trampoline is one of the most efficient forms. Using a trampoline offers a variety of health benefits for the body. It’s no wonder why more people are getting out there and bouncing their way back to health! Here are 6 benefits of trampoline exercise:

1. Improves your sense of balance

Trampoline exercise improves balance and coordination because the surface of the trampoline flexes in all directions and therefore gives optimal stimulation to your body’s balancing mechanisms.

2. Low impact on your body

Unlike some sports like jogging and tennis, trampoline exercise has comparatively low joint impact for a high impact, intense exercise routine. This is because your vertical acceleration and deceleration is soaked up by the trampoline pad, which takes up 80% of the shock; whereas hard surfaces such as roads do not have enough give to do this. This means that trampolining protects your joints whilst exercising your muscles.

3. Strengthen legs

Tumbling coaches have been using trampolines for years to train athletes.  Studies show that participants who rebounded regularly saw a 30% increase in their leg strength.

4. Improves coordination & motor skills

Bouncing on a trampoline increases awareness of your body. You learn to control the coordination of the arms and legs while bouncing and to adjust the position of your body accordingly. Gymnasts often use trampolines to improve their coordination in aerial skills and tumbles.

5. Strengthen skeletal system & increase bone mass

Trampoline exercise requires great exertion and the repetition of the jump action puts the bones under repeated slight stress. This helps your musculoskeletal system build up and improves bone mineral content. Each landing from a jump is equivalent to twice the force of gravity, which allows you to develop over time helps to prevent brittle bone disease, also known as osteoporosis. Because the trampoline pad is bouncy and soaks up a large proportion of the impact of your landing, your bones and joints are protected whilst being strengthened.

6. Stimulates your metabolism

Trampoline exercise has been proven to increase your metabolic rate, helping your body to process nutrients more efficiently.

With all the health benefits of trampoline exercise, we are more than excited to have a new trampoline at the Rock Starz gym! On Tuesday, April 5 from 8-9 pm, we are offering a FREE trampoline class with Coach Eli. This class is designed for the level 4 and 5 tumblers.

Stop on over and bounce your way back to health!

I loved how you mentioned that you can increase leg strength by 30%! My sister was telling me a couple of weeks ago about how she wants to look int finding a new workout to do, and she was wondering if doing a trampoline one would be a good idea. I'll make sure to pass this information along to her so that she can know the benefits of doing a trampoline workout!
